I thought it preferable to get the new, easier to manage, easier to update site up, even though it's not in its final form.

I have brought over most of the material on the old version of the site, but not everything. Yet to be done:

  1. Story Samples. The stories complete in the Night Lands section are almost all here, but the stories later published only in sample form are not. Story samples will have their own menu category — they won't be mixed into the completed stories as they were (for historical reasons) on the old site.
  2. The stories in Others' Night Lands are not yet formatted and published.
  3. "Children of the Hive," by Luna García y García. This is the only complete story from the old Night Lands section that isn't here. It has unusual formatting and presentation, and it needs several pages of custom HTML that I haven't written yet. It also needs new illustrations, because I can't identify the illustrations that aren't the work of Mr. Fabian.
  4. An article listing Hodgson-related books, including Andy Robertson's Night Lands anthologies, is not complete. It needs more books added, and more details.
  5. The multimedia page isn't up. I haven't yet picked a plugin for playing the sound files that are hosted here.
  6. Domain Science Letters. These were non-narrative Lovecraftian science fiction created by Andy Robertson and linked from his personal page. I'll be bringing them into a new story section.
  7. Later I will restore the late Mr. Robertson's personal page as a memorial.
  8. Proofreading. I did quite a bit of proofreading while reformatting, but it's by no means finished.
  9. Later I will bring back the old site log as a matter of archaeological interest.
  10. Later I will convert many of the Night Speech bulletin board posts into articles we can read here.
  11. The essays and the long story subcategories are going to get some dress-up so they look more like the short stories. Done.
  12. I may make other similar cosmetic changes to category presentation.
  13. The pages you see when you click on an upper-level menu item, like Stories or Night Land Stories, are functional but plain. I've kept them system-generated because I don't want to have to update them by hand. At least some of the changes I want to make may require running a second copy of the template to accommodate them, but I don't want to do that yet.
  14. Later I'll make any other changes to styling that require me to run a second copy of the template.
  15. Later I will try to restore some of the previous site's art.
  16. Later, if it turns out certain behavior I'm getting from the content management system is unintended, and said behavior gets fixed, I'll add a sortable story list.
  17. I've used the same artwork with too many stories because I don't have enough suitable illustrations of known provenance. This is particularly a problem with Darkening stories. I will try to find a wider variety of images.
  18. The Journal may change in several different ways. Right now it's in its simplest possible configuration, but we'll probably want to add posters and features as time goes on.
  19. I have used standard HTML table formatting to get a few items up quickly. But they don't adapt to small screens well. Later I'll reformat those tables and add some custom CSS for mobile browsing.
  20. Later, I'll make any changes to the template that require me to recode it, as opposed to simply writing CSS.

If you notice any errors, please email nightland %at% starsofwinter.com and I'll fix them as soon as I can.
