I first discovered THE NIGHT LAND in high school and was immediately captivated by the vision of the book. At first it was the concept of a world so far distant from ours that the Sun was a half-forgotten myth, as well as the weirdness of the Land itself and all its monsters and bizarre phenomena.

I have always been fascinated by evolution, fossils and paleontology, and the idea of a human society that really lived and thought in terms of geological time was extremely compelling.

However, once I saw that the Night Land site was accepting new work and started to think about what I might write, it was the entropic nature of the Watchers as representations of an implacable fate and of the Land itself as a world starved of all energy except the dwindling store of Earth-Current that came to the fore.
